Getting involved during your stay:
The best part of staying here is a chance to be part of farm life. Each season brings its own pleasures: the snow and cold of winter with opportunities to snowshoe, hike, and explore; blooming lilacs and forsythia in spring and the birth of our baby lambs and kids (baby goats); fresh tomatoes, lettuce, beans and squash in summer; and magnificent forests of red and golden trees in autumn.
We welcome you to join us as we do our daily chores, give grain and hay to animals, milk goats, clean the barn, plant and pick freely in the garden and vegetable hoop house, gather eggs from the chickens for breakfast and cut and stack wood. Stroll the 80-acre property and learn about our wind turbine, solar panels and solar hot water system.
You can purchase any of our farm products and cook a farm to table dinner.
Many additional add-on learning opportunities are available to schedule at your convenience for an additional fee; cheese making, wool spinning or dyeing classes, cooking classes and more.
Let us know your interests and we will help create a perfect Farm Vacation itinerary for you.
Week-long rentals are $600.00, plus a $50 cleaning fee, 5% county tax and a $2.00 contribution to the Green Lodging Partnership Program which protects our region's lands, waters and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities.
The apartment is most suitable for two guests, but guests with one small child would also be comfortable.

Longer rentals are welcome – we would reduce the rate based on length of stay.

What a special trip! We visited sonja and dicks incredible farm with our 21 month old daughter and felt so lucky to experience what their life is like. They have chickens, goats, sheep, a horse, donkey, dogs, cats, pigs. Our daughter loved seeing all of the animals and being able to pet them and feed them! Sonja brings you along during her morning and evening feeds and shares her knowledge of rearing countless animals over their +40 years of farming. They also have a beautiful organic garden that they shared with us. We stayed in their apartment for the weekend. The one bedroom apartment had plenty of space for us and a fully equipped kitchen. They let us use a portable crib for our toddler who slept very comfortably. We ate fresh eggs and greens from the garden for breakfast - such a treat! We brought food for lunches and dinners which worked out really well. We also picked up bbq from the smoke joint (15 min drive, outdoor eating by a river, live music) one night and it was great!
Thank you for inviting us into your lives for a weekend Sonja and dick! We had such a wonderful time!
Highly recommend for families with a young kid who want an authentic farm stay experience!!

We had a wonderful time at Apple Pond Farm this weekend (our second visit). Our kids, who are 9 and 6, love coming out to help gather eggs and feed the goats and sheep at the appointed time of the morning — and then being in charge of making sure all 22 chickens and a turkey are in the henhouse at night. The dogs and cats that live on the farm are great fun too. The farm house is comfortable, with lovely handmade quilts on some of the beds, and the kitchen equipped with pots and pans and such so we could cook our meals. (Though we made it even easier one night by picking up pizza at Kaatskills in the nearby town of Livingston Manor.) This farm stay is not fancy, but very cozy and a real working farm, which is exactly what we wanted. (And just before departing this time, we even got to be part of a goat's giving birth, which was amazing, but certainly cannot be counted on!) We will definitely be back again.
